the way i’m thinkin is it’d be a usb-c audio player, most of the components for that circuit are probably available off the shelf

so when you slot in the thing it connects and reads the files, or you could plug it directly into a phone or computer to make a backup or listen any way u wanna

it’s probably a micro sd in a bigger plastic shell but who cares! the trojan horse wasn’t a horse either

carts can be held in outer cases around the size of a cd/DS game case, full color artwork on each with the back cover art on the flipside

so many opportunities to make a player for these that uses some neat design and satisfying mechanical clicks when swapping disks

wishlist so far:

- flash memory based
- both read-only and re-writable disks (mixtapes!)
- cheap to manufacture and distribute
- universally compatible (no proprietary hardware needed, each cartridge has a usb-c port to load/offload files/connect to a compatible player or phone)
- pocketable!
