For many, they suddenly notice the harm it has done.

But, not all communities teach the same thing.

Leaving behind one in search of a more humane one isn't losing faith.

It's listening for the Call of God to grow.

What part of your spiritual story are you learning to tell with honesty instead of fear?
December 7, 2025 at 12:45 AM
Spiritual trauma isn’t just “church hurt” or a "bad experience".

It's real damage that happens when someone uses the Sacred to control or harm you.

If you've been harmed by a faith community, it's okay to be angry.

Being angry is part of the healing process.

What happens when the church teaches one vision of power…

and the empire you live in demands another?

The earliest Christians faced that question long before we did.

Honesty isn’t betrayal.

It’s the doorway to becoming someone who doesn’t need fear to feel faithful.

Light only transforms what we’re willing to uncover.

The light reveals the truth.

The truth sets us free.

Jesus didn’t die to protect anyone’s comfort.

He died because he confronted power and stood with the vulnerable.

By doing so, he embodied faith.

If a "Christian" faith doesn't pay attention to issues of justice, it isn't a "Christ-like" faith.

It's really just comfort masquerading as conviction.

It's not a choice to reject Jesus.

It's not a choice to reject Christianity.

it's not a even a choice to reject religion.

The choice made is this:

You choose to stop devaluing and losing yourself.

After that, the deconstruction-growth process begins.

They want to get away from the noise of life.

But what if...

God is found primrily in the messiness, uncontrolable aliveness of Life Itself?

Maybe that's the Call to pay attention, to listen deeply.

and then told "It wasn't 'the church' that hurt you, but flawed people."

Newsflash:

If the people who hurt you are representing the values or teachings of their church when they do, then, yes, their church hurt you.

It's okay to call "the church" out for it.

Once upon a time the Church hunted heretics.

Today we hunt “toxic religion.”

But are we doing the same thing, just with softer language?
