The Horrors-''Strange House''(2207)
The record sleeve gives you an idea on what to expect but the record is beyond your expectations.Fantastic debut that stood the test of time.Whoever likes this kind of sound-post punk/goth/a bit arty/and a bit noisy, will definitely love it.

Klaxons-Myths of the Near Future
This is sci fi/rave/punk.But not only. After you dance to the beats sit your ass down and read about the Manifesto of Futurism, about Greek mythology and of course about Thomas Pynchon. Then, you will a clearer picture on what's going on here.Dj...?

Things you need to know about Twilight Sad:
1)They are Scottish
2)They are brilliant
3)They are R.Smith's new favorite band and a steady support for the Cure
4)All of their record covers are a piece of art
5)James lyrics are equally excellent with Andy's shimmering guitars

Smashing Pumpkins-Gish(1991)
This is a modern classic.Flawless.The production on this one along with Siamese Dream became the blueprint sound for every shoegaze band.Another genius move was taking a jazz drummer with zero rock knowledge and placing him in a modern rock band.

Reverand Horton Heat- Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em(1990)
I urge you to be baptized by the Reverand. This is the best psychobilly band!!!Fierce guitars, raw drumming, lowkey bass along crazy lyrics with dark humor is the perfect mix for you to see the light.Of course...this is Texas

Kyuss-Wretch(1991)
This is another heavy as shit debut record that was trully gamechanging. It set the tone for countless bands after them.
Garcia's voice is the archetype for any stoner rock singer.
Homme's guitar sound is pure genius.
Ahead of their time with almost zero success

Its time to get heavy!
Electric Wizard-S/T (1994)
This is heavy doom as we knew it from other pioneer bands but at the same time it is heavier, weirder, trippier and purest as it is more uncompromising.
Of course the band's name was taken from 2 Sabbath songs.

Catherine Wheel-Ferment(1992)
Shoegaze with style,emotion,freshness,master skills.
After all these years it remains sharp and it still very close to shoegaze perfection.

Unwound-Fake Train(1993)
One of the most underrated bands of that era.Pacific Northwest was really a goldmine for me.Especially,Olympia,WA.The shadow of grunge was too heavy at the time but Sonic Youth thankfully help them get a little attention.Guitar noise-rock at its best.

Grant Lee Buffalo-Fuzzy(1993)
For me this record always reminds me Jeff Buckley's ''Grace''.
They are masterpieces, and even though they are debut albums, both are filled with confidence, strange melodies, dark lyrics and damn fine voices.

Next post for #5debutalbums9094
Come-eleven:eleven (1992)
Come's name is handwritten on the cover of Sonic Youth's Washing Machine by the band. They are THAT good.Zedek's voice and Brokaw's blasting guitars create something unique, noise blues for the fallen.

Last for today, another personal favorite. #5debutalbums9094
Mark Lanegan's first solo record.Recorded in a period in which he was sober! with the assistant of Cobain and Novoselic. This album contains the song ''Where did you sleep last night''.These arrangements were used in Nirvana's unplugged.

Let's not kid ourselves. The @prolapseband.bsky.social should be huge. But back in the day there was a plethora of great bands.Anyway, they are much better than modern bands.Except one.Excellent comeback with this beauty.
Can't wait to catch them in Athens.

Another record i enjoyed a lot this year #5albums25 is
this one.If you are familiar with the players then you probably get a good idea on what i am talking about.Don't just label it ''avant rock'',is far more adventurous.

Nothing- Guilty of Everything(2014)
This one is definetely a modern classic!
Add to the mix:Kensighton(Philly),a jail conviction,Dostoevsky,Tolstoy,Smashing Pumpkins,My Bloody Valentine,Britopop! and an excellent production, especially on vocals & you end up with this shoegaze gem.
