Mr Show had most of it figured out 30 years ago

Ha, agree it is jarring. Reminds me of the Dolphins guy, Mike McDaniel. I don't pay all that much attention to NFL but when I saw him I thought: "huh".

Just in your day to day business type life

It’s sort of wild that these are hard concepts to grasp at this point. Have we never been in a situation where we knew there was protocol like: org wide message/email>my sub org message group>further sub group of allies>people I fully trust> not going to put this in writing at all

Most of the defenses of this murder seem to come down to: armed, masked state agents determine if your constitutional rights and life are valid based on whether they are like angry or scared
January 25, 2026 at 9:07 PM
Sure, but we can’t outgun the federal government anyway. If the idea is that I might be afraid to vote because of armed guys at the polling place, I feel a lot better knowing there are also a hundred phone cameras there and a dozen fearless old ladies willing to hold my hand until I get inside
January 25, 2026 at 5:46 PM
I don’t know how it would play out, but at my polling place this truck full of guys would be flanked by a phalanx of fifty 70 year old Unitarians with megaphones

This sucks. I think, though, this would free up a non-homegrown spot? If they sell him and don't buy anyone it would be ridiculous.

The ghost of Woodrow Wilson is really confused right now.
January 22, 2026 at 5:14 PM
Yes, I assumed they chose Minneapolis because it is one of the few major cities in a blue state that is majority white, and they figured that would make it a stroll. (It did not.)

In my job, I have interacted with dozens of federal law enforcement officers (mostly FBI and agents of various agency IG offices). The first thing every one of them has done is to introduce themselves and present their credentials.

My family does not have our insurance through the ACA, but our premiums went up 40% in January.

Seems to me that if "anonymous senior DOJ official" gave this information to the Washington Post, it is either a complete fabrication or it represents a pretty major breach of the seal protecting grand jury proceedings
January 17, 2026 at 3:14 PM
White collar practitioners correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think DoJ can issue subpoenas. Courts issue subpoenas. DoJ can convene a grand jury and ask the court to issue them. Maybe it's semantic, but the story seems misleading on the basic facts.

It's difficult to game out. I live in a Trump +5 district, but that's the type of district that may need to be competitive for Dems to win. I can guarantee that in my specific precinct (where lots of Dems will vote) the polling place will be guarded by a phalanx of 75 year old Unitarians
January 15, 2026 at 6:28 PM
Keith would ash in one of these guys' drinks in the first 20 minutes.
January 13, 2026 at 10:51 PM
What's wild is that, for much of the 80s and 90s, the very idea of a large, armed, federal domestic police force was exactly what many conservatives were most concerned about. They have just, like, changed their mind now.

Any timetable on Jayden Danns?

Also, what was the cost of deploying all of these military assets to the Caribbean? Let's see the balance sheet for this thing.

Sounds like a team who might do well in a two-legged knockout competition (with some luck) . . .

It's like Arrested Development: Limited liability company? How about a *no liability* company?
January 8, 2026 at 9:01 PM
I tried that! Knee wedge was the ticket.
January 3, 2026 at 11:26 PM
Yeah this can be a problem with ours. Couple times I've had to unplug the machine, put it on the floor, wedge it between my knees and torque the bowl

At least in US that typically includes “with reckless disregard”
