For reference, we built OCRE for $300K and Hellenistic Royal Coinages for $250K. It's stunning to think they received almost the same as OCRE, which imo (I am biased) is a monumental project, one of the most successful DH projects of all time

Book grants are usually in the $30K range. The grant announcement also states there will be a symposium on pandemic historians, but at $3000 per person for travel, honorarium, and hotel for a typical meeting of 30, that's still half the $250K award

The realities will continue to diverge radically as AI slop propagates. People literally believe Portland is a war zone because you can wave a magic wand and create fake videos showing it is, or at least reframe footage from other riots from other times.

Tricky situation for them because the BOV could vote in favor but then find themselves completely purged by Spanberger Jan. 1 or whenever she takes over.
