The company and commission claimed these rate increases were necessary for business operations, yet @pacificgaselectric.bsky.social has continued to make record profits year after year despite flat demand for electricity for the past twenty years.

PG&E customers have seen a 64% increase in their bills since 2020.

Recently, PG&E bragged that their customers can expect a $5 reduction in their monthly bills.

But $5 is nothing compared to the $115/month increase we’ve seen in the last 5 years.

The CPUC is supposed to, yet it routinely rubber-stamps utility spending without real oversight, letting these monopolies treat ratepayers like an ATM while failing to deliver safe, affordable power—and then blaming consumers for the fallout.

They should be reining in utility spending and profits, protecting the public, but instead, they are rubber stamping ballooning spending plans, rate hikes, and record profits - all in the face of flat demand for electricity.
