I've idly wondered if interactivity should be considered the mark of a game's artistic merit, since that seems to be what sets the medium apart, but... that's also a big part of what makes it entertainment. There's not necessarily a lot of emotion or thought evoked by Minecraft or Bananza.

I have a weird feeling that I'm parroting back something you've said before, but games which try to be art do so by aping another medium, and games which are held up as art typically get the reputation based on resemblance to another medium. That seems self-defeating.

Even though I know creativity is all work, I think on a gut level I still believe it's an innate capacity and if you are A Creative Person the details will just come to you. So not only do I seem to be working with a deficit in focus, I'm too proud to brainstorm lol

gosh yeah. I didn't scrounge up 120 gigs on my PC just to not use my eyes or pay attention to the environment.
