Hope is a tattered scrap of clothing, memory of the smile of a loved one, an acceptance that things have been lost but to keep moving.

It's not Peace yet.
But ... Maybe...

Bring them home
End the genocide
Stop the settlers
Build a Peace that can last.

Every Shabbat and Jewish festival, we pray for a just and equal world without oppression or suffering. Our Jewish communal grief should not mean a choice between supporting us *or* Palestinians because we should not be conflated with the actions of a nation state.

The breadth of Jewish disapproval of Netanyahu is significantly under-reported in UK media. Views are never monolithic but the median British Jew feels an attachment to Israel and feels Netanyahu has been a disaster for Israel (Institute for Jewish Policy Research)

Just in case it wasn't clear that ethno-nationalisism isn't a synonym for racism, and how twisted the thinking is of the Israeli government, they've welcomed a man who hates Muslims more than he hates Jews, so that makes him heroic.

Seeing as just under 6% of respondents to the 2021 census said they were Muslim, while 0.4% were Jewish, this tells me that while hate crimes against Muslims are still more common, you are more likely to have a hate crime committed against you if you are Jewish

No, but we are asked to answer questions that are unreasonable and unasked for.

You are right to distrust Netanyahu and the voices of most of the Jewish community organisations - but, there is a complex and nuanced set of truths to the fears expressed.

TBH - it's exhausting and depressing

My heart breaking for all those caught up in the attack in Manchester.

Horrific anytime, but on Yom Kippor it feels even harder - as everyone in the community (religious or not) is reflecting on how to be more open hearted and better in the new year. All this while fasting.
