An official statement of commitment for supporting SteamOS on Valve Hardware! And the hint that other distros can be supported by the communities around them since the mod manager is fully open source.
Our Focus For 2026
Hi everyone, Iluviel here. I want to give you a heads-up on what we’re going to be working on at Nexus Mods in 2026 and some of the changes we’ve made to make that possible.OrganisationSome boring...

If anything the moment the devs start working on Vortex Linux users will likely get a bigger boost in how many games they can mod with an official mod manager when the work on Vortex continues than if they kept slogging on NMA. But sadly negativity drives engagement better than positive news.

Well NMA also barely supported any games and was nowhere near done.

And there are many resources of the Devs already proactively investing Linux support down to the individual libraries used that cause issues and need to be updated.

So framing this as a big doom and gloom thing is just wrong.

So in the end I am more disappointed in this article leaving out crucial information either due to a lack of research or to generate more negativity around this topic than needed to get more clicks. I used to hold GamingOnLinux to a higher standard.

I wouldn't be lying if I wasn't disappointed in the App stopping development because it means I'll need to wait a little longer now for the UI/UX and few feature improvements NMA had over Vortex to be ported to it. But I engaged in conversation with the developer and know him from other projects we

This article feels cynical and aggressive by leaving those facts out and claiming the only important thing of the new App would have been Linux support and FALSELY claiming that all this means Linux support is fully of the table.
January 16, 2026 at 7:20 AM
This article neglects the fact that a majority of the developers that worked on NMA and are now working on Vortex are developing on Linux Machines and use Linux on their private rigs which is why they also want to find ways to rework Vortex to make better Linux support possible.

(2)The only way to do this fairly would require a broader selection of nominations in the genres to account for the GOTY games being filtered from them and then doing the GOTY vote and declaring before the category voting starts and then acknowledging the exclusion in the category because it's GOTY.

(1/2) I thought this was a good idea but then I realized the fact that a game is so good that it scored multiple categories should be rewarded and just because a game is nominated for GOTY doesn't mean it will get it so you would rob a GOTY contender from getting even recognition in its genre.
