Always felt Alexei Yurchak’s HyperNormalization had some Boudrillard stank on it: Adam Curtis’ unhinged 2016 doc def feels like Baudrillard for the modern era.

Perhaps Curtis presents a more historical & materialist, specific instantiation of the hyperreal?

More than his people, it’s really because Gulf states (save for the UAE) view Palestine, Jordan and Egypt as a necessary buffer between them and Israel. They’re uncomfortable with the idea of an Israeli encroachment/expansion.
