Genuinely what's the point of non-per-capita gdp data?
With US GDP released today (4.3% annualized), we now have Q3 growth data for every G7 country
Here's each country's cumulative increase in real GDP, since just before the pandemic:

I don't think free speech on campus ought to mean that a young coddled bigot gets to use their ignorance to casually destroy the career of a knowledgeable trans person on a random Wednesday
Worth noting that the student admits that she just threw the thing together in 30 minutes without reading the paper she was supposed to be responding to.

Dabei fällt mir gerade wieder ein, wie eine deutsche Ökonomin letztens meinte, in den USA wäre die Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf ja viel besser als in Deutschland. Sie meinte damit, dass man sich in den USA von einem VWL-Professoren-Gehalt eine Vollzeitnanny leisten kann
Spoiler: die finnische Gesellschaft ist egalitärer, also "gleicher“. Das gilt auch für das Einkommen. Arbeiter verdienen mehr als in Deutschland, Topmanager haben dagegen oft weniger und werden zudem auch noch höher besteuert.

I think this post nails the actual problem, for researchers at least—AI hallucinations would simply not be a problem in academic work if we’d not normalized citation-as-signaling rather than actual engagement—you can only cite a fake paper if you’re not in the habit of reading the papers you cite

I think this post nails the actual problem, for researchers at least—AI hallucinations would simply not be a problem in academic work if we’d not normalized citation-as-signaling rather than actual engagement—you can only cite a fake paper if you’re not in the habit of reading the papers you cite

Seit Beginn der „Waffenruhe“ in Gaza am 11.10 sind nach Angaben der örtlichen Gesundheitsbehörde 401 Menschen durch isr. Militärgewalt getötet worden. Erst gestern wurde eine Hochzeitszeremonie in einem Schulgebäude von Panzern bombardiert. Diese Zahl umfasst nicht die Toten infolge der Blockade.

davon, auch jobmäßig. Ich habe zwei haushohe Examina in Jura, eine Dissertation bei einer absoluten Koryphäe, Peter Ulmer, er hatte sie sogar für einen Preis vorgeschlagen. Ich habe also Jura studiert. Mich nervt es nur noch, das ganze Gerede von Geisteswissenschaftlern, die arrogant -2

Die Menge an Floskeln und Neusprech zum Kahlschlag an deutschen Unis, die Jan-Martin Wiarda hier zusammengetragen hat, ist ziemlich deprimierend und vermittelt nicht den Eindruck, dass aktiv um die Institution gekämpft wird.

Die Menge an Floskeln und Neusprech zum Kahlschlag an deutschen Unis, die Jan-Martin Wiarda hier zusammengetragen hat, ist ziemlich deprimierend und vermittelt nicht den Eindruck, dass aktiv um die Institution gekämpft wird.
