The Commerce Clause prevents individual states from enacting embargoes against other states. But it doesn’t prevent citizens of those states from boycotting those states and companies in those states.

The idea that once nationalized the organized state militias were thus no longer subject to any limitations save those determined by the executive branch is laughable.

I have issue with any group: religious, racial, ethnic, or otherwise, that has as part of its ethos that some people are “better” or “more deserving of rights or privileges” due to group affiliation.

The particular issue I have with religion is the invocation of a higher power to rationalize this.

Let me get this straight. It’s the Democrats fault that they didn’t have a filibuster proof majority to pass a law that based on the binding Supreme Court precedent at the time was unnecessary.
If we’re gonna just trade aphorisms without recognition of the facts then here’s one: hindsight is 20/20.

The Democrats haven’t had an extended filibuster proof majority since 1979. There was a brief period starting 09/24/09 - 02/04/10 after the death of Ted Kennedy but before the election of Scott Brown that they had one, and the majority of legislative effort was dedicated towards working on the ACA.
