If mil leaders don’t buy the message, they can keep quiet or self-select out. Those who don’t want to be part of politicized military (or agree w/ the ideology) leave. This aims to weed out committed professionals who strongly adhere to norms of nonpartisanship. 6/

People are STILL minimizing b/c the worst hasn't happened.

Sure, DC now has military checkpoints, but isn't crime bad there?

Sure, people are being dragged away by goon squads, but aren't they mostly illegal?

Sure, universities and the media are being strong-armed, but aren't they too liberal?

US media is in the fetal position, living in a delirious haze, desperately trying to pretend everything is normal and this is all boring everyday politics, even as federal troops flood into DC and the entire western world mounts emergency missions to slow Trump down

Actual question: It has been only 72 hours since the disastrous puppeteer/puppet show in Anchorage.

Has there yet been a background story on how, and by whom, this emergency intervention of *eight* big-time world leaders was pulled together, over a weekend?

Sending the Guard to police DC citizens politicizes the military--just like using it and active duty troops against protesters and in immigration and counter cartel missions does.

This is no accident. It's part of a broader effort to transform the military into a partisan force.

NYT reporting today that the admin. is planning to use the U.S. military ag/ cartels. This has actually been in the works for awhile as I argued in this Foreign Affairs piece from April.

It's part of what I see as an effort to politicize the military and transform it into a partisan force. 1/
