Honestly think the micromanagement is a big reason why I like this game so much. I understand why people may find constantly pausing to swap camouflage and eat food and patch up wounds tedious but there's something about that friction which makes the gameplay loop more compelling for me

Corvette Stingray may have been part of Diaclone, but it was designed for Americans, and created to become a Transformer.

…also, Tracks and the Omnibots go together. They came out at the same time in Diaclone, it’s the same gimmick. I’m never sure how many people clock this.

Ironically, it was Diakron which finally attracted the attention of Hasbro, and in 1983 they entered into the Transformers agreement.

Despite Diaclone having moved on to dinosaurs and triple changers, in 1984 Takara made one last Car Robot: an American muscle car.

After Bandai’s success exporting Chogokin, Takara’s Diaclone team made several attempts to attract a US import partner, by choosing a few car models that would specifically appeal to Americans.

Later, these cars were chosen for Diaclone’s ill-fated foray into the US market: Diakron.
