Not to say it isn’t ridiculous. It punishes the game’s biggest fans. But all Blizzard has done about it over the years is make it easier to get a refund. (Which I believe is in battlenet balance, not cash.)

This is the messy way collector’s editions usually work, because your game key is inside the box and you don’t get the box until launch. If anyone wants the game box AND pre order bonuses they also have to buy a digital copy and get a refund later. Such a common problem it has its own support page.

Well, price to change the appearance of items on the beta were initially increased by 400% (at level 80) to 700% (at level 90), and the announcement said those prices will be cut by 60%, so I am not thrilled by the increase but it’s out of the realm of mind-boggling and is just a lot more expensive.

I do wonder what the overlap is between players who are swimming in gold (I know many of these people!) and players whose top priority is transmog.

I can't believe we've gone from transmog is free to transmog will cost less to transmog will cost 800k gold and then each time you want to change or save a new set it will cost four times as much as it does in TWW.
I just don't have words for this.

Midnight is the expansion that killed transmog. Good fucking job, guys. I LOVE TRANSMOG. THIS IS A CORE FEATURE OF THE GAME THAT I REALLY ENJOY.

It's actually worse than I thought! In addition to paying 800k gold if you want to unlock the 20 outfit slots you currently have in The War Within, saving and changing looks in those slots is also MUCH more expensive. 4300g to change every slot of a look at level 80, reportedly 6k at level 90.

I grant the transmog slots you unlock do more for you than the ones you have now. You can hot swap between them at no cost. But the slots are wildly expensive and unlocking slots isn't even account-wide.

You start with two transmog slots unlocked automatically, then have to buy the other 18 at an increasing gold cost: 100g, then 500g, 100g, 5000g, 10,000g, 15,000g, 20,000g, etc. And at some point it increases to going up by 10k gold per slot but I don't have enough gold to test it on beta.

In the Midnight beta if you want the same 20 slots to save transmog looks that you have in game right now, it will cost you 800k per character to unlock them. Swapping between pre-saved sets is free (awesome!) but making any changes to existing sets costs the same as it does now.

If this goes live as is, it puts transmog, to the extent I do it now, well beyond my financial reach unless I get a lot better at making gold or buy a lot of WoW Tokens which is maybe the point. I am really so upset.
