It seems like you're writing this with the benefit of hindsight. Maybe you brought this up back in December when Sanders posted that reply, I don't know. We all knew Musk was a rich a$$hole for sure, but I'm not sure anyone outside of their inner circle would guessed how DOGE would actually operate.

Even if he has to go to congress to get the law changed, now that he's sold this as legit money saving exercise to his people, Republicans will cave and pass the law. It's how they get to extend their huge tax cuts that expire this year, so it will have to go thru congress anyway.
