In a UK where all parties are polling less than 50% it's time to demand broadcasters give all year round fair coverage & stop building up self fulfilling narratives.17,000 have signed this petition https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/713798

The greens & LibDems should both have much more coverage. That’s a given. But when the mainstream media continues to obsess about Reform when the official opposition has its conference is a disgrace. We need plural coverage so all our parties (which are now all minorities) get a voice.
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
@itvpeston.bsky.social obsessed with Reform even in @conservatives.bsky.social conference week. Whatever you think about the Tories & @kemibadenochmp.bsky.social they are the official opposition not Reform. However much you will it on. Instead you a drag on a Ref council leader from Lincolnshire?

The BBC also finances lots of small independent producers across the UK who make many of the great non news programmes particularly in radio. Hitting the bbc where it hurts would threaten their livelihoods. It is difficult
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
It’s not just the bbc that’s the issue. Ch4 we also own and they even ran a huge doc on Nigel Farage becoming PM. All the PSBs are a problem. May be we need to be seen and protest for fair coverage
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
As media obsess about ‘small boats’ &Lab/tories try to out reform reform with their rhetoric, the more nuanced view defending immigration as a good thing for UK - from @libdems.org.uk @snp.org @plaidcymru.bsky.social @greenparty.org.uk @scottishgreens.org is not being conveyed. Write to the networks

Credit where credit due, BBC South Politics had an intelligent debate btwn @conservatives.bsky.social @libdems.org.uk @greenparty.org.uk @teamlabouruk.bsky.social & they still managed to inc special focus on @kemibadenochmp.bsky.social @zackpolanski.bsky.social in conf week. Plural coverage& no hype

Help of others issue by issue. That’s a good thing imo. Coalition should not be seen as failure. If all the non ref parties have to work in Gvmt against ref then so be it. Unless we get a new narrative that discredits reform, chances are they’re gonna get at least 20% of the vote. It’s democracy!
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
But the reality is that we live in a multi party system now. Whatever system we have or not, we’re gonna have to get used to coalitions. They don’t have to lead to inertia. It’s democracy not to allow unbridled governance by any party which doesn’t have over 50% of the vote. The SNP governs with m/f

think most people here would agree with u but if the messages Davey, Polanski, Sweeney are putting out (pretty much what you are saying along with dangerous link to Trump) are not being covered by media we’ve an uphill battle. PR must happen eventually but tactical voting may be key to keepRef out
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
I’m afraid the media has a lot to answer for when it comes to Reform. They have all built them up constantly for several years now even before they had MPs or a significant poll rating. LibDems & Labour now being attacked for taking on reform. What choice have they got it? @itvnews.bsky.social
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Be good if they explained what conservatives, socialists. Liberals etc actually believed in instinctively. I’m always amazed that many people don’t understand the meaning of the words
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Haha. It’s not about being partisan in anyway. That’s not how it should work in a modern democracy
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
UKpolitics is being framed around far right agendas & feels like our media has been itching to move us on to this. Like we must follow some global far left/far right narrative to keep them excited. it’s not science - we don’t HAVE to accept this. Challenge OFCOM We need a review of coverage!
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Do you reckon it’ll even get uttered ? And if it is? Quickly dismissed as ‘not the issue being discussed’
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Or any other political leader. If it was Davey or sweeney or Polanski, it would end up defining and destroying them even if it was only an association
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Any other party they’d be haunted by it over and over and over again. Parties have been destroyed for much lesser things. I suspect it won’t enter the psyche
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Newscasters don’t make money per click though. It doesn’t work like that in tv or radio. Papers and online only outlets are different
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Is this getting any serious media ie broadcast not just tucked away in the times?
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
There may be that detail on the you gov site. Not looked. Point is, the media parrots one poll over and over. But ignores others.
fairpoliticsnow.bsky.social
Agreed .. tell them you want the parliament we elected represented. Reform have 5 MPs.
