Jewish, Liberal/Leftist, Nerd, Punster. Religious but not Spiritual. He/Him. Not actually the Maharal.
Hilarious typo though. I strongly support the widespread worship of data.

It’s not anti-Christian to point out that Christian teachings and scriptures have been used to justify and perpetuate antisemitism. This is simply stating reality.

Just because it’s uncomfortable, doesn’t make it any less true. Also, it doesn’t mean we’re impugning your personal faith.

And that includes examining the founders of Christianity from the earliest gospel writers and on.

I hate and fear republicans too.

But I know that liberal Christians, who should be on my side, can't be trusted to actually protect Jews until they do the work to unpack the anti Judaism in their Christianity.
December 6, 2025 at 12:28 AM
Look, I genuinely don't object to your religion or to you.

But Christianity has anti Judaism written deep in its texts, traditions and history.

And until Christians acknowledge that and fix that, Christians, even ones like you who don't intend harm, will continue to harm and endanger Jews.

No, I mean the new testament which uses Jews as caracatures and foils to make Jesus look good.
December 6, 2025 at 12:24 AM
Yes.

And the Christians of the time, the same ones who preserved all we know of Christianity, also wrote gloating essays talking about how this was the proper punishment for the Jews killing Jesus.

This is not a rare thing in Christianity. Every single Christian sect and organization has consistently been steeped in anti Jewish hate.

Until Christians like you recognize that fact and demand it stop instead of pretending it's the fault of "other" "fake" Christians that will continue.

Martin Luther, late in his life after founding Luthernism wrote "on the Jews and their Lies" in which he encouraged the burning of every Jewish synagogue and the enslavement of Jews.

There are. And I wouldn't dare to be so arrogant as to claim that only my Jews who are with me are "real Jews."

That kind of arrogance seems to be fairly unique to Christians.

I encourage you, in the words of your own teacher, to examine the log in your own eye before worrying about the mote in mine.

I fully believe that you believe you have no beef with me.

However, you also believe a lot of inaccurate and offensive things about my ancestors, because your religious texts were written by humans with their own biases and motives.
December 5, 2025 at 9:25 PM
I have read the Gospels. I read them in college, and was shocked at how insulting they were to my people, and how inaccurate they were about ancient Judaism based on what I had learned in history class.
December 5, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Justin Martyr (145 CE) blasted the Jews for killing Jesus and for leading people away from salvation and gloated about the destruction of the Temple.

Are these founders of Christianity not "real Christians?" I can cite more if you want.

"St" John Chrysostom (4th century CE) calls Jews "Pigs" and that the synagogue was "worse than a brothel and a drinking shop." His writings were cited by the Nazis as justification for the Holocaust.

You might consider studying some of your religion's history.
Matthew makes up a scene where "the Jews" accept a blood curse on themselves *and their children*

The first published deicide libel discovered dates to 167 CE, Peri Pascha.

Here's a great article talking about who the Pharisees actually were, and why Christians, only aware of them from the Gospels and Christian stories, inadvertently believe antisemitic lies about them.

Mayor Pete, lay off the Pharisees!
(RNS) — 'Pharisee,' again? I hadn't thought of that word in decades. Until Mayor Pete ...

Just to give one example, Christians reading the Gospels are led to believe that the Pharisees, the proto-rabbis who were champions of the poor and helped found Rabbinic Judaism were "getting rich" off of the poor Jews.

You wouldn't happen to know any Christians who believe this anti-Jewish lie?
December 5, 2025 at 9:10 PM
The Gospels are filled with polemics against Jews, mainstream Judaism, and early Jewish Rabbis, and those polemics have directly led to Christian violent antisemitic attacks.

Literally the reason Twitter sucks now is all these foreigners logged on willing to do racism for pennies on the dollar and undercut our home-grown American racists. We need to erect serious trade barriers to protect the integrity of our domestic racism industry and preserve racist jobs.

I was assuming that was just adjacent to the Channukah section and unrelated.
Although as a fried potato it's actually more appropriate for the holiday than the majority of the things on the channukah shelf.

Did they though?
November 23, 2025 at 4:06 PM
No. I'm saying Christian-dominated societies are riddled with Christianity at various levels of religiousity and spirituality.

That there are different levels of Christian-ness doesn't change that they are all aspects of Christianity.
November 23, 2025 at 3:27 PM
I'm sorry if it offends you that Christians have fooled you into celebrating a Christian holiday despite you not identifying as Christian.
But that's a you (and Christianity) problem, not a problem for the people who refuse to be fooled.
