Repost to help share my new course! Fall 2025 @huntercollege.bsky.social
I wish I could have taken a lab class on Native American x African American science and history as an undergraduate. So now I’m teaching one as a prof and yes, we’re whale watching in Manhattan. And learning to DJ.

If you have a book launch party, I suggest doing it with two other brilliant women colleagues whose books came out at the same time. I had a great time last night seeing Black Pro Se alongside these gorgeous monographs by Stacy Alaimo and Ashley Cordes. All three on sale now for your summer reads!
Such a treat this weekend to celebrate three new books by my three brilliant colleagues, Faith Barter (@faithbee.bsky.social), Stacy Alaimo and Ashley Cordes! #humanities #summerreading

It’s pub day!!!! My first book, Black Pro Se ( @uncpress.bsky.social ) is officially on the loose, and I’m so proud of this book that sits at the intersection of Black Studies, legal studies, & 19th-c. studies. I would love to be in conversation about it with you and your students.

My first book - Black Pro Se: Authorship and the Limits of Law in Nineteenth-Century African American Literature (UNC) is out next week! It is about Black legal imagination and freedom dreams forged in and through law’s unexpected corners and loopholes.
