Decent people don't need to split hairs about this. Being an ignorant, selfish bigot is bad. It's not that hard to treat other people with basic dignity. Especially if you're employed in a service industry where you're literally paid to treat all people with respect.

As for the fascist thing... most of these platforms are algorithmically silencing left-wing dissenters and promoting alt-right propaganda. That's hardly a win for free speech in my book.

And no. You're never going to reduce the younger generation's exposure to hateful destructive discourse online to zero. But that's no reason to throw your hands in the air and not try. We've seen the results of that approach here. And I'd rather not watch Nazi fascism become the next pandemic.

That same logic can be applied to door locks. If someone really wants to get into my house, they'll smash a window, pick the lock, or bust the door jam. It's impossible to keep people out who really want to get in. That doesn't mean I don't still lock my doors when I leave. It's a deterrent.
