118. On Becoming a Guinea Fowl
2024: This great. Very rough at times. Patriarchal bullshit ruins lives everywhere.

117. The Adventures of Buckaroo
Banzai Across the 8th
Dimension 1984: This is an awful movie.

I don't know if you plan on watching it, but if anything could this review could make you watch it. Also, in the third episode, they talk a surprising amount about The Doughboys

For some reason it was important to me to find the original Soviet poster that the NY Post used to make this Mamdani front page. (I suppose a residual side effect of running a Soviet instagram account for years)

Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.

@ianferguson.bsky.social should I buy these for you and just wait for the tariffs to be dropped and can send packages again?

116. Sister Street Fighter 1974: Better paced than OG The Street Fighter and even though there's less gore gags the few they save for the end are pretty great.

Now I have to see if the Riki Oh clip is marked as offensive too.

115. The Street Fighter 1974: There's 10 minutes in the middle of this and 15 at the end that are pretty fun, the rest was a bit of a slog. I think I might not be a Sonny Chiba guy, though the completest in me is tempted to watch all 7 Street Fighter/Sister Street Fighter movies.

I’d given so much credit to Riki-Oh when really Sonny Chiba did it first 20 years earlier in The Street Fighter.

Muted my feed for a few minutes and when I turned it back on, Satan had taken over calling the game.

Seeing this had unreasonably pissed me off. It’s a fucking cookie. What else do you need to know?

Doberman Cop 1977: This definitely wasn't helped that I had to break this up into two watching over a week. It made me intrigued enough about Sonny Chiba that I will watch more of his movies. But compared to the last couple yakuza movies I've watched this one was a little slow and meandering.

Went to Keelung Night Market yesterday. It’s the one every travel show about Taiwan goes to. Unfortunately it was pouring rain so I didn’t take many pictures. Shit was good though.

This year’s Pizza Hut Taiwan Halloween pizza is Black Curry with Pork Chops. What’s scarier than an American cheese octagram?

113. Cops vs. Thugs 1975: It's cops vs thugs, but what if the cops ARE thugs? Nobody wins.

There are a few bonkers minutes sprinkled throughout this movie that make it worth watching. The rest of the time, you're just being carried by the charisma and watchability of the leads.
October 19, 2025 at 12:51 AM
112: Rapacious Jailbreaker 1974: It's in the title. He's rapacious. He breaks out of jail. A lot. It's tonally weird at times, and it barely has a plot beyond the title, but it just keeps going and keeps you entertained the whole time.
