Personally, I'd say it's the shallow writing. For example, I feel like I've learned more about Tevinter from talking to Dorian in Inquisition than the entirety of my time spent in Minrathous.

Went champion warrior on my playthrough and one of their abilities makes unblockable attacks parryable and that was addictive.
