On those grounds I agree.
Even if I at the moment see China as benevolent, extreme power and dominance will corrupt them.

Lots of huge problems with it -- also a probable global recession.

But it's what I now see as the only sensible way out. For sure, there is no military solution. Trump will not be appeased by a European military buildup against Russia on Greenland.

Europe's power is economic. Weaponised finance will be very self-damaging, but this is what I see.

Yes, for the foreseeable future, diplomacy is – if maybe not dead – on life support. The USA is isolating itself. There can still be diplomacy between other parties. Trump seems to believe, that does not matter, but it does.

The point is that English is not a Ukrainian language, nor is it a Japanese one.

Riiight and:
Nippon not Japan.

But it was not Zelensky, it was the USA, much before Maidan or Zelensky.

Anyhow, it's whataboutism to say Russia is worse than the USA, which it isn't. That's why we have diplomacy.

That's the point at which Ukraine started to slide away from neutrality.

Maidan was a coup, 5 billion (according to Victoria Nuland's Senate hearing) was "invested" into Ukraine. Media, "education" grants, organisations like Azov (then an NGO), Open Society Foundation, USAID had prepared a coup.

No...
The obvious point is that these countries were not acting neutral with respect to NATO. A 300 000 NATO funded, trained force was built up in Ukraine, A force dependent on NATO intelligence and command structures.

There is historical proof of what Finnish neutrality meant.
January 21, 2026 at 9:59 AM
I can understand your idealist position but...

It was right for Finland to sign the September 1944 Moscow Armistice. The peace enabled Finnish independence, prosperity and capitalism as a neutral country.

The accords in the Armistice are almost identical to Russia's demands on Ukraine today.

Sure, but the funding wars will ensure even more chaos in every field of government. It probably is inevitable. Just saying, this is not an easy, snap solution.

What I see is a practical need to choose between Ukraine and Greenland. There's resource constraints.

I choose a strategic security deal with Russia where Ukraine becomes neutral (after a very hard peace), and understanding USA is a long term strategic enemy. Start the trade war now.

The idea 'we are above the law' is starting to more and more affect real things in public.
January 21, 2026 at 9:20 AM
I like to see it,
but I don't believe it.

There is a lot of talk.
I believe US troops being expelled when I see it.
UK is such a vassal!

Then, why are we not at war with the USA? "As long as it takes" and all that.
January 19, 2026 at 9:05 PM
Now do the same for the USA. If Perplexity claims USA didn't start the wars, its bias is exposed. Start with; who started the Vietnam War?

No record of breaking treaties. It's a lie to avoid talking to Russia and to force Ukraine to fight till the last Ukrainian. Ukraine would be better off taking a deal now. Something similar to the Moscow Armistice of September 1944 with Finland. Russia kept that treaty too.
