Yes, absolutely. In a world full of insane evil tech capitalists, he has a strong case for “most insane” and is at least an honorable mention for ”most evil”

I want bluesky to have a downvote button specifically for this kind of post

This article has exactly the tone all media outlets should be using with big tech PR people.

Are we ever going to get a dedicated BtB on Yudkowsky (even if he might not fully count as a bastard)? I've been sharing the first few Zizians episodes far and wide lately. For how much this genre of tech guy influence power in the US, there is shockingly little digestible reporting on them.

Huh? Poor people moving to a rich area is literally the opposite of gentrification.

Many of the people I trust most closely in the real world are the ones I trust the least to spot a phishing lure

“your recovery contact will not have access to your account” — is there a mechanism to stop a recovery contact sending themselves a code as you? Does this introduce a new way to socially engineer your way into a google account, by tricking their recovery contact into clicking “approve”?

Like it’s hard to emphasize enough how little expertise a guy like him has—it’s the equivalent of supposedly serious medical podcasts interviewing RFK Jr as an expert on vaccines.

I refuse to listen to these absurd softball interviews with Yudkowsky that treat him like a expert in AI and not the guy who helped break the brains of a significant chunk of silicon valley with psuedo-philosophical Harry Potter fanfic

I vote learning to ski over snowboard but if you’re not into the going-fast-downhill thing cross country skiing and snowshoeing can get you the same vibe with an easier learning curve, require significantly less money, and are better exercise

All this news about the AI “economy” crumbling and yet the big interview on the NYT’s premiere tech podcast this week was interviewing yet another random guy™️ who doesn’t understand LLMs get lost in how impossibly “smart” and “intuitive” chatgpt is.

Maybe I'm the outlier (consensus seems like more policy/high level) but I've always felt cybersec media lacks deeper/more technical retroactive looks into major incidents, threat actors, etc. Occasionally there are great articles/blog posts but a lot of cyber news feels like just headlines

NYT’s front page headline “assassination” earlier today, though they’ve since changed the wording.

Seems difficult to pin down wording changes vs A/B testing vs genuine bias when it comes to headlines

I hate how often/quietly sites fully change headlines now, lets them get away with a lot.

I would argue it is in fact a bug in the kernel driver if an update file can cause a kernel panic…
