Retired from office work. Now raising farm animals and a big garden, owning a small independent grocery store (now closed, and listed for sale) and sitting on our local council (one more year).
Quilt top almost done now on Christmas eve. I'm making a warm blanket for a cold patio door, that faces directly west into the wintery wind. It should glow with the sunset behind it.

When checking the citations of the book you're writing, do you ever accidentally reread an entire book in one sitting?

Or are you normal?

MAUVE is a lovely mix of chemistry history and fashion history.

I think both the #romancelandia crowd and the #chemsky / #chemchat crowd would love it!

Great work, the creation of open source technology is vital to roll out globally. It would be fascinating to use this in regions that have used biochar historically to see what differences it makes to soil structure. So much to innovate in soil carbon fixation.

1. Some good news at last. This week’s column is about the amazing thing a couple of us stumbled into three years ago, which we’ve now developed into a global research programme. It doesn’t change everything, of course, but it could help change quite a lot. + 🧵 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I knew that a revolution in our understanding of soil could change the world. Then came a eureka moment – and the birth of the Earth Rover Program, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

It's great to get away for a while to visit family and friends, but after 10 days, I'm ready to go home. Josie is waiting for me at the gate, just like in this photo from a year ago.

Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.

The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

The US president trafficked & raped underage girls, the evidence is overwhelming, everyone knows it, and this country's elites & institutions are so broken, so insular, so decadent that we can't even bring ourselves to state it clearly, much less do anything about it.

Contemptible & pathetic.

Belted Galloways are beef cattle. They are also known as Oreos and OPP cars. There is also a red phase, like Georgia here. She is 15 months old.
