I’d like to clarify that there was not a “small” difference in the demands of the 2 papers. Imagine facing challenges all your life due to a visual impairment then having to sit a significantly more difficult paper than your peers because of this. And the exam board telling you this was deliberate.

I’ve recently picked up A level computer science due to recruitment issues - only the maths/programming/algorithms parts. I’m really enjoying it. I’ll also be teaching y10 (intro to python programming) next year. After 20+yrs teaching maths/further maths it’s great to have a new challenge.

I’d love them to explain why the modified papers are usually identical but for some reason this one was entirely different.

I believe this email has been sent to all centres to exams officers so is genuine.

I agree - this would explain a minor difference. Every single question was different, and very different at that.

I’ve sent you a message…

Thank you. It’s really difficult for a student who already is facing challenges, especially as the level of difficulty was so different.

This might explain why our student who needs the modified 18pt paper got an entirely different paper that was a lot more challenging.

This looks impressive. Can I ask do you use this in class or for homework? For in-class would it require all students to be on devices? For homework would they all need devices that can write on-screen?

I treated myself to a NumWorks and now recommend it to my students. I’ve only convinced 2 so far and they sit smugly watching the cg50 kids trying to figure things out.

I let the rain clean mine for me. I can still see out after 14 years living here so it seems to work.

Growing up in the midlands we definitely had this version which seem completely different to the Welsh tune.

Not at all.

Ah ok. Now I feel like much less of a donut. Thank you!

Loving the area approach that students wouldn’t automatically see or go to. Can I ask how log(base5)20 in the lower limit in the question is changing to log(base2)5 in both solutions with no working? Feel like I’m missing something.

Yes I’ve received them. Thank you so much for your help. :)

Thanks for sharing this. There are so many amazing resources not just for decision. I could spend days looking through all this!

Thank you, I didn’t realise there was any Decision on Dr Frost. CIMT is one I hadn’t thought of. I love their resources for KS3/4 so will check that out. Thanks for the help.
