Ca resist making a reading recommendation. Robert Harris‘s 3-volume fictional biography/Roman history is superb. Second volume Lustrum also goes by the title “Conspirita.”

Just finishing an interesting read by Marc Dunkelman, “Why Nothing Works.” Traces the Hamiltonian vs Jeffersonian political philosophies and how both progressive and conservative admins have used, or over-used, both.
Also: Racism, conscious or no, is a thread through both parties’ histories.

And as always, his “humor” is cruel and insulting. He has no comprehension of how endearing self-deprecation is to people. He could never make fun of himself; too much of a self-obsessed blob of neediness.

And we in RI didn’t see it because our local news was on continuously, but how ironic that CBS apparently aired some kind of special with Erika Kirk, whose slain husband said we just have to ”live” with the shootings in order to enjoy our “freedoms.”
The ironies. They hurt.

Remember when SNL had a running joke every week: “This just in — Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead!”
Maybe they should do a new one: “President Trump is — amazingly — still alive!”
It seems these days he only wakes up long enough to put a cruel policy in place or to snarl at reporters.

My favorite, too. Own a copy, but can never resist watching when it’s on.
The best dialogue of any movie ever.
I’ll bet many of us can quote it all by heart.
And sadly the line that describes the sorry state of our country under this regime:
“The devil has the people by the throat.”
