Mush art has dropped on my website! I’m trying not to be too precious about every imperfection and just ~*make stuff*~ to share with anyone who wants to help support the team! 🩵🧡

Painting this 3” x 3” mini portrait was a delight. I have a few spots left for customs available! Plus some premades of the team and linocut prints.

The sigh of relief I felt when I saw this video.

My cart is on the heavier side, as far as race carts go, but it has a heavy duty claw brake that allows me to safely get off the rig if I need to fix a tangle or something. Safety > winning.

Kinda! There's a wide range of dryland mushing equipment. There's a variety of 3 and 4-wheeled carts for larger teams. Folks also use scooters and bikes for 1-2 dog classes. This is the cart I will be using for my 6-dog team.

Nope, often they're short coated and with our warming climate, it tends to suit them pretty well! In sprint, the distances are short, so they end up back at their truck to warm up. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurohound

FWIW, sprint is broken up into all breed (including hounds, Alaskans, non-AKC reg dogs) and registered breed. I have basically low expectations of placing well versus the mostly hound teams I run against, so I compare my times to the reg breed class. We usually rank somewhere in the upper/middle.

It depends. I know plenty of sprint mushers with very fast Sibes. Both Sibes and Alaskans are slower than the hound teams in the sprint world. As for long distance, there are Sibe and sibe-heavy teams that finish above Alaskan teams. Manitou Crossing comes to mind. Showier Siberians are slow though.

The team is mostly Siberians, but I have one full Alaskan and one Siberian x Alaskan mix.

We’re signed up for our first race of the season! It’s a local dryland event happening this weekend. We’re only doing the 6-dog class, as it goes out first and temps will warm up quick. We’ll also be having a few mushers staying with us, and a few extra puppies too!

Now it just needs to stop being 80°.

Did I expect an oil change to set me back $5K? No. But I was emotionally prepared to come out of this with having to finance *one* $10K+ 2025 ATV. So, for half that, a new-to-me model AND my old as a beater, I think this is a win.
fartsock.bsky.social
Well that escalated quickly! Managed to salvage the ‘10 ATV but it’ll need to be suctioned for future oil changes & may be on borrowed time.

Dealer offered to absorb the cost of repairs ($700+) on the old ATV with the purchase of the ‘20. We have a dog training machine and a plowing/backup now!

I think that’s just her face, I can assure you she’s living the good life with playmates galore! She’s from Fort Illio kennels in Maine!

Hey in better news? This girl is joining team Spitfire. A friend is helping transport her next week. 😁 (Patreon ppl already know!)

This post in particular is about Brent Sass running the Knik 200 but there are, as you said, unfortunately multiple 😞

The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session.

Want to know why?

Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files and they don’t want it out.

Call GOP and tell them to swear in @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social.

Reminder to the #MusherSky community. You don't have to support or follow races that welcome known human and animal abusers to their lineup. Have a great day!

Training with the Fritz cart while the ATV is in the shop (fate still TBD). Two small teams so I don’t die. Short runs to beat the warmup. Kuiper lead! Easy peasy.

Hoping to know my ATV’s fate sometime today.

I probably wouldn’t want to rely on one until Honda or Polaris come out with an affordable one. Currently I know Polaris has a an electric side by side that cost more than a car.

hah! so the oil pan = crank case, so replacing it is essentially pulling the motor out and rebuilding things. So the labor part is where the $$$ comes from.
fartsock.bsky.social
Yea I spoke to my motorsports guy and he mentioned just gumming it up, but you'd need to suction the oil out with how the pan is configured in this machine. Outcome TBD, but it might be worth more to trade it in now so he can sell it as-is at auction, and use the trade in towards a new machine.

I do not fully understand either, but apparently it’s a mixture of parts being unique to this old model, which are hard to find, along with potentially causing problems with the engine itself. I’ll know more tomorrow, and ask why various cheap solutions won’t work. (Helicoil?)
fartsock.bsky.social
I beefed it. Appears the oil pan drain hole got stripped/chipped even though I ONLY HAND TIGHTENED IT and apparently you can’t just easily tap a new drain hole in this atv because of how the pan is angled and there’s a skid plate blocking most of it and it’s like $1000 to replace it all and idk
