Unbelievably Proud Teacher Moment.

I became the Year 5 and 6 teacher of a Paralympian - Charlie Harding.

On Monday, aged 21, Charlie was the guide for Oscar Kelly in the PTVI Triathlon at the Paralympics in Paris.
They came 7th in the world!

The podium awaits them in LA in 2028, 2032……

Even when the test wasn’t done as part of the SATs, I still used the paragraph (it was different but similar every year) to do a before and after evaluation - this really helped children to improve their handwriting. Dug this out of an old folder of mine…from 2005!

From the 1990s - one of the paragraphs that children had to copy on lined paper for KS2 SATs.
A brilliant Assessment - pushed teachers to teach handwriting really well. Handwriting was so much better then - it definitely deteriorated once handwriting was assessed as part of the writing task.

A must for all teachers of Maths. Not just KS1 and KS2 but KS3 and KS4 as well.

Does anyone else disagree (greatly) with the NCETM order of teaching times tables?

10x, 5x,
2x, 4x, 8x
3x, 6x, 9x
11x, 12x

Why would the NCETM be telling us to teach 10+6 in Y2 and 5+3 in Y1
