This thread was a nice way to start the day. It has absolutely nothing to do with running.

We finally landed and Dan and I caught a cab to Manhattan together. Making social media social again!

Not sure, I think you had to get the email to know.

They offered a discount code to everyone racing the Manhattan College Invitational the following day. www.instagram.com/p/DPaF9ITABfo/

On the off chance any of you are in NYC and want to spend your Friday night watching track and a Ciara performance, here's the ticket link: athlos.freshtix.com/events/athlo...
fastwomen.bsky.social
Less than 48 hours out from the start of Athlos, there are still 487 tickets available. Icahn Stadium's capacity is 5,000. They are clearly putting a ton into this venture, it's depressing how hard it us to get fans to show up for the majority of the track meets in the U.S.

Updated field for Saturday’s Boston 10K for Women. Jordan (Hasay) Hogan has reportedly scratched due to injury.

Wow, you just made me feel really old 😀 But also, I can see how that would happen because it’s not like there’s a Diamond League meet named after her or she’s getting invited to races in the U.S. as an ambassador. Recently, I think I’ve mostly just heard about her work with the Refugee Olympic team.

Here's the women's field for the Valencia Marathon, announced today. The race takes place on December 7th.

I'll check it out. The U.S. majors tend to do a better job. Tokyo and Berlin are awful. Sydney was awful this year. As is the coverage that most local news stations provide.

Congratulations to everyone running in the most beautiful urban marathon in America today! Hope and I crushed the 10 mile.

Ultrarunning legend Courtney Dauwalter acknowledges that the Twin Cities Marathon was hard. "You marathoners are crazy," she told Carrie Tollefson. But she says she might run another marathon sometime.
fastwomen.bsky.social
According to the broadcast, there's some debate about what her marathon PR previously was. She ran 3:17:55 at the 2009 Twin Cities Marathon, at age 24. But she told Carrie Tollefson she thought her PR was 3:15. Regardless, she clearly could have run much faster somewhere along the way.

Courtney Dauwalter finishes seventh at the Twin Cities Marathon in a massive PR of of 2:49:51 (chip time).

And whew, with 17 seconds to spare, Megan O'Neil became the second woman to qualify for the 2028 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials on time, running 2:36:43 to finish second at the Twin Cities Marathon.

Allie Kieffer had a tough final 7K, but she hung on to take third in 2:38:44.

Jane Bareikis wins the Twin Cities Marathon in 2:32:52 and becomes, as far as I know, the first woman to qualify for the 2028 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials on time. (Others have already qualified based on past accomplishments.)

They're saying on the Twin Cities Marathon broadcast that Courtney Dauwalter is on 2:47 pace, but that's not what I'm seeing in the live results.

She wasn't in the top 10 at halfway. She moved to 9th by 25K and to 8th by 30K, where she has stayed, on pace to run 2:48-high.
fastwomen.bsky.social
35K into the Twin Cities Marathon, Jane Bareikis leads Allie Kieffer by just over two minutes. And with Megan O'Neil in third, we currently have three women who are still on pace to get under the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifying time.

Courtney Dauwalter runs in 8th place, still on 2:48 pace.
fastwomen.bsky.social
Courtney Dauwalter has picked up the pace a little and she went through halfway at the Twin Cities Marathon in 1:24:09, on pace to run a 2:48.

There can't be many other people in the race who have more experience managing their effort on a warm day than she does.

Halfway splits at the Twin Cities Marathon:
1. Jane Bareikis 1:15:33
2. Allie Kieffer 1:15:50
3. Megan O'Neil 1:17:41
4. Lexie Greitzer 1:19:30
5. Missy Rock 1:21:23
6. Ariana Fisher 1:21:23
7. Danna Herrick 1:21:44

Fingers crossed that we see our first Olympic Trials qualifiers on time today.

Catching up on the Twin Cities Marathon coverage, I appreciate that Carrie Tollefson included Olympian Janis Klecker in her post-race interview with Joe Klecker.

And 69 minutes in (which is comical), we got our first shot of the women's race! Jane Bareikis leads the way, with Allie Kieffer in 2nd.

Courtney Dauwalter has to be the most tracked athlete at today's Twin Cities Marathon. She hit 10K in 40:24, on pace to run about 2:50.

It gets tiring complaining about race coverage. I wish there was nothing to complain about.

I am saving a lot of time this morning by doing other things and then fast forwarding/skipping through the Twin Cities coverage and just watching the little they are showing of the women's races.

If anyone is looking for a retirement/reserach project and likes to watch mediocre race coverage, it would be really interesting to have some data on how much camera time women get compared to men in elite road racing. There's no way it's even remotely close.
