Fat. Old. Duffer.
The really sad thing is that I wouldn’t be surprised if you were able to do something similar with Albo.

It's probably a good idea to wait a bit. On Monday, the Red Cross had to turn people away. Tuesday, it was still busy, but not as much. Next week, it wouldn't surprise me if it was back to normal.
The thing is that some of the victims will most likely need blood in the weeks to come.

"Embarrass the Government"
So what is the Govt doing that they should be embarrassed about it? I understand that they will be pilloried in the press if they make a mistake, but a pollie or senior PS feeling embarrassed for a few days is a tiny price to pay for ensuring we never have another Robodebt

Thinking on what you said, I believe that they did have an effect on those that watched Sky, such as Rural and Regional Oz, old people in conservative electorates. So it had an effect on seats won by the Teals last time and NP seats. Eg. Goldstein and New England, which recorded a swing to Barnaby!

Loved the article. One thing, though, is that the Gillard government did do a lot more than it was given credit for, such as the NDIS and ETS.
IMO SSM failed then because the dominant union was the RW SDA. Now, it’s the CFMMEU which is why the environment is getting such short shrift.

As it was in our 2025 election. Newscorp went full MAGA and the rest of the MSM were luke-warm on Labor at best, yet Labor won in a landslide. Ergo, MSM had pretty much ZERO effect on polls.
Consider, Fox have pulled out of Oztam because their numbers are so abysmal - especially Sky After Dark.

Yeah. I guess. Personally, I don’t want either case to even get to court. Because - and correct me if I’m wrong - Roe v Wade is the precedent for many civil rights court rulings. If SSM goes, then everything that Roe v Wade underpins goes. And the USA is back to some dystopian version of the 1950s.

My view is that, should SCOTUS actually ban same-sex marriage then someone should put an interracial marriage ban before the court. Not because I want it to get up (I don’t want either to), but because I want to see Clarence Thomas, JD Vance, and Mitch McConnell squirm.

Actually, Victoria, like the rest of Australia, doesn’t exist.

True. Maybe they could bury him deep then put a septic tank on top of him. That way, they could empty it for reuse. A never-ending source of cash.

I was thinking they could bury him on one of his golf courses and install a drop toilet right next to the casket. Then they could charge people to "Dump on Trump". They'd make a fortune!

I have to say that the ‘diminished responsibility’ argument (in this case, due to mental health) for his un-controlled slur is so overused as to be almost meaningless.
It detracts from those players who have legitimate mental health issues. And, who knows? Maybe Rankin does. But it sure looks suss.

But he’s not the only one. This article gave me real pause because of how thoroughly beholden Oz is to huge foreign corporations. It’s about the EU but it applies equally to us.
We talk about how China’s tech could be used against us, but looking at the US now?

Yes, his morals and ethics are bad. This leads to my concern with granting access to someone who could turn the batteries off on a whim or as a way of currying favour with an authoritarian government.

Yeah. Me, too. But then I thought that it serves as a perfect metaphor for AUKUS, given Australia’s defence pact with the US.
July 14, 2025 at 11:04 PM
And there I was thinking that the Heard Island penguins had signed a defence pact with them in response to the US tariffs!

I love that coat. Where can one buy it in Canada? (I can’t travel to the US, currently.)

Whoever thought we'd see Judge Dredd IRL?
July 1, 2025 at 11:22 PM
According to Boris Johnson’s memoir, he set up AUKUS in part to spike the deal with the French to piss off Macron.
Not sure that that should be the basis for Australia to change its defense strategy.

Although, I do have to say that actually doing it, and terrifying a group of vulnerable people to make a political point, however well justified it may seem, would definitely be reinforcing a GOP behaviour.

You could hire some blacked out SUVs, dress up as ICE agents (balaclavas, camo), and drive over there…

And I'm surprised that the ABC doesn't ask what changed between when she was in power and THEIR OWN ENQUIRY ruled that nuclear was non-viable.
