People keep imagining that these systems can be made hallucination-free. But they aren’t really designed to distinguish fact from fiction. Essentially they’re just stimulus-response loops full of calcium ions.

Some years ago we showed that working-memory fMRI activity in sensorimotor network is modulated by the effector used to respond. Looking back, I am not saying this was a good paper, but conceptually I find this one of the most interesting studies I've done so far:

No actually: R1 did a pretty bad job including rather old school gatekeeping. It would be alright if their review didn't contain a fundamentally stupid misunderstanding of what we did. Sad for their student and the style of reviewing they will learn...

Had my paper rejected at a major NPG journal. One reviewer enthusiastic (R 2), two negative (R1 and 3). Problem is, R3 is a student of R1, and their reviews were even combined in round 1 so its hardly an independent review (quality of R1 aside)

Should I appeal or just fuck NPG and send elsewhere?
