Doesn't make up for even a fraction of the pain of having to listen to interminable Polish chippiness about 303 Squadron and Sosabowski

You know when he's playing David Brent?

That's not him acting, that's who he actually is.

Yeah, a Labour Home Secretary positioning the party to the right of Suella Braverman

But there are still Starmer Ultras that blame everything on the RWM 🙃

"For the week ending 25th November 1944, for every 100 battle casualties evacuated from US 3rd Army, 60 were evacuated for cold injury...

...losses of 10% to 15% or more of the strength of single units were not unusual"

Its just bizarre how the US gets plaudits for supposed logistical brilliance in WW2 when US logistics in fact broke down catastrophically and entirely predictably in the worst possible way at the crucial point of the campaign in North West Europe

But at least the Wehrmacht had competent logisticians, in stark contrast to the absolute omnishambles that was COMZ in 1944, an organisation that spent more time colonising Parisian hostelry than supplying US Armies

Sure, the Red Ball Express was impressive but the fact that it existed was a symptom of a fundamental malaise in US strategic planning that disregarded logistics in much the same way as OKW disregarded its logisticians in Barbarossa

I always find it weird how the Germans are slated for running out of supplies and finding themselves in the middle of winter with no winter kit in 1941, but the Americans are praised for running out of supplies and finding themselves in the middle of winter with no winter kit in 1944

Supply chain supremacy for the allies in 1914-18 was derived from naval supremacy which in turn was derived from a massively superior fleet of battleships 🤷

Not often I agree with Max Hastings

Why would anyone think that the purpose of the police is to address or ameliorate structural inequalities?

Write a historic wrong instead of right a historic wrong

The police are the anvil on which society beats out the problems and abrasions of social inequality, racial prejudice, weak laws and ineffective legislation
November 8, 2025 at 5:40 PM
It was in fact an attempt to write a historic wrong 😉

Acknowledging externalities is anathema to popular analysis of police performance
