I’m a ~40-year-old designer/coder who’s been building for the web for almost 30 years. I made an exit with three of my own web services — and now I’m back, this time building in public. I’m creating apps that make life better beyond the screen, not to add more screen time. #webdev #buildinpublic

Some of my all-time favorites 👇

🎬 Movie: Pirates of Silicon Valley (1999)

📺 TV series: The Sopranos (1999–2007)

🎮 Game: Warcraft II (1995)

📘 Book: Aki Hintsa – The Core (Voittamisen anatomia) (2016)

Timeless classics that have shaped my taste and thinking. 💙

Finding the right balance between AI and hands-on coding isn’t easy. For prototyping, “vibe” turns out to be a surprisingly effective signal — but maintainable code is a different game, and AI isn’t quite there yet.

Reading Good Hackers (De goda hackarna / Hyvät hakkerit) and realized I’d been assuming Monty Widenius and @martenmickos.bsky.social were the same person. They’re not. One built the MySQL database, the other built the MySQL company. I built the wrong mental model. 😄

Just shipped a Menu component for Faunder UI

Built with HTML popover API + CSS Anchor Positioning. The menu automatically flips position if it doesn't fit on screen.

✨ Features:
• Supports buttons, links, checkboxes
• Smart fallback positioning
• Pure CSS, zero JS

New Switch component in Faunder UI!

Works with checkboxes and radio buttons, but displays as a modern toggle switch. Simple usage:

A few months ago, I said something about AI using the legacy color syntax, and it turns out *a lot* of people still use it too.

That inspired two articles on @piccalil.li, and now this video as well.

Updated Faunder UI colors to use relative color syntax! 🎨

Now you can easily:
✨ Adjust opacity: oklch(from var(--brand-500) l c h / 50%)
✨ Tweak chroma/lightness/hue on the fly

Modern CSS is pretty cool! 😊

Every component page now has a "Customize" button where you can download the component's CSS file and get setup instructions.

If you want to customize a specific component, download its CSS file and replace it with your own version. This way you can tailor components to your needs.

Faunder UI updated! 🎨

All components reviewed and documented. Themes removed for now - focusing on making the default theme solid first.

A simpler, cleaner foundation you can build anything on top of.

Why isn’t a “screen-case” like this a thing? I want an ATX case with a 27” side display and built-in speakers. Perfect for saving desk space and for LANs — PC and monitor in one. Sell it as an empty case and let us add our own parts. I’d buy this instantly.

Working on Faunder UI — a lightweight CSS foundation system that styles HTML elements automatically.

Today I built the button group component. You can group buttons together and style them as a connected unit. Variants and sizes work just like individual buttons.

Simple, flexible, and themable.

The difference this time? I'm not trying to build the next big thing. I'm just building things I'd want to use. If others find them useful, great. If not, I still have something that makes my life a bit better.

Cuukbuuk now has a new feature: when I add a recipe to favorites, it automatically generates an AI image of the recipe in the background. No need to search for images or take photos myself - the images are created automatically based on the recipe.
