But we have an entire political party that does not want it to and they're currently in charge.

It's deliberately redesigned to fall short of the private package delivery industry.

The establishment of our USPS is federal law, however the current political party in charge wants to shut the whole thing down. (And privatize)

And have been working for decades to erode reliability and trust.

The collateral damage on this one is going to be crazy.

It's going to be small but a lot of legal deadlines and confirmations rely on that postmark.

Retraining workers takes an investment and our governments and our businesses do not see those as valuable investments.

By doing so, corporations resolve themselves of the morality of mass firings to replace for more profitable options.
Governments absolve themselves of the responsibility to their citizens and constituents by simply saying things are available if they happen to be able to use them..

We don't have a social structure to honestly retrain and help displaced workers adapt.
We don't. We as a society decided that "if something unknown forces you out of work, it's your fault for not preparing for the unknown better..."

We shift things that are societal cause to the individual fault.
