I came across this horrific news story about a woman locking her special needs daughter in a dog kennel outside.

I then came across this person defending the abuse. Like holy hell.. wtf

Carolyn Vinson - What IF, this was viewed from a different perspective? What if the girl was having an explosive episode and the mom had to remove her from the home to keep other people and herself safe? What if, you look and notice the mother is not striking the girl and is not hurting the girl, does not appear to be acting in anger, but might be allowing the girl to be away from everyone else and have her episode? What if you notice at the beginning of the video, when the girl says “I’m scared Mother” the mother responds in a calm tone asking “What are you scared of?”, addressing and acknowledging the girls feelings, not ignoring them. What if this was the only safe area away from everyone else to avoid distress and danger to others that might be in the home? This is not a small confined area. This is a large fenced area and the mother is with the girl. I do understand that if you don’t understand special needs individuals or uncontrollable explosions, and the risks involved in said explosions to the individual as well as to others, you might have a hard time seeing there is likely more to this story.

The eldest is learning about auxiliary verbs. Just gave him a blast from the past with the helping verb song that I was taught, not that bastardized jingle bell version of today.

Thank you, 8th grade English teacher who seared this song into my head in the 90s.

Have, has, had,
Do, does, did,
May, might, must, and then
Can, could, should,
Shall, will, would,
Be, being, been,
Am, is, are,
Was and were,
And all the rest of these.
You can learn your helping verbs, they’re auxiliaries.

Book Club Sunday! We've spent the last two weeks reading Kid Activists: True Tales of Childhood from Champions of Change by Robin Stevenson.

I am in awe of these brave children. Too many of us reach adulthood thinking we are too small to affect change, but here are these children doing just that.

As a barely over 5ft person.. holy shit. Its a struggle to find clothes that dont make you either look like a pumpkin or look like youre wearing an older siblings clothing.
