The passive voice is often necessary and unavoidable in scientific writing, but it forms habits and is often used when there’s no need 🙃. A little AI flagging the use of the passive voice helps.

Basically, peak AI was when grammarly released the style checker, everything since has been pointless.

Not interested, but funny stupidity: Digital submission, student forgot to change the formatting of the text they copy-pasted from a website. I could tell what they plagiarised because those bits were in Times New Roman rather than the default Calibri.

I’d like to to think that this is a product of modern times. If so, there’d be a fix.

But the more I look at history, it seems to be a feature of humanity.
