For me, disowning someone isn’t the only way to reject their beliefs. I can disagree completely with a family member’s politics and still care about them as a person. It’s possible to hold people accountable and choose not to let politics destroy every family tie.

Here I was ready to blame the media, congress, the Biden justice department, or the Supreme Court for enabling everything, but apparently it’s just little old me and my desire to keep a relationship with my crazy republican family, that is truly responsible.
