My condolences to Richard Branson, and does anyone else smell toast?

You know what they say about sedition, he who smelt it dealt it.

Leave it to the NYT to reframe the sex trafficking of minors as a Proustian reverie.

Note that when they talk about Madeleines, it's not pastries.

Anyone who wants Epstein's Best Friend to admit to his crimes could probably just ask him, "So which did you enjoy more, giving Bill Clinton a bj or r@ping underage girls?"

At a minimum, I hope this leads to more people using the word "tsuris."

I saw a meme, "This feels like the end of the movie when the bad guy knows he's cornered."

It's more like the first act, where the detective says, "It can't be Crazy Firebug Jones who burned those people, he died in the Old Mill blaze. Ten years ago this week. Funny his body was never found."

The Farmers' Almanac was founded when James Monroe was president, when there were 20 states and the US invaded Florida, published continuously through Depressions and World Wars; couldn't survive the Syphilitic Caesar regime.
Farmers' Almanac announces final publication after 208-year run
After more than two centuries in print, the Farmers' Almanac will end its run with its 2026 edition.

You might be able to indict a ham sandwich, but convicting it is something else entirely.

So with every House seat and 22 GOP Senate seats up for re-election next year, congressional Republicans have to reconsider their slavish, lockstep devotion to him now, right?

Right?

Lest you think they're not making sacrifices, they were reduced to using generic Rohypnol at their Great Gatsby Halloween party instead of brand-name, and they canceled the donkey show because they thought it might appear insensitive out of context.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 81st day out of the last 93.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

At the risk of being hyperbolic, this might be the single most stupid thing anyone has said in the history of people saying things. 1/3

The East Wing was built in 1942 apparently to hide the construction of the Presidential Emergency Operations Center underneath, to protect FDR from German long-range missiles. Bunker Archie hid there when the very scary George Floyd protests were taking place. 1/2

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."
John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry began on this day in 1859.

You don't do that kind of construction on a house you intend to move out of.

The White House has now been attacked twice: in 1814 by British troops, and in 2025 by the president and ACECO Demolition, LLC, of Silver Springs MD.
