My point was not that Israel is behaving well or treating the flotilla activists correctly. My point was simply that to me, who has developed a sense for such things after working for 25 years in news media, the Celik story smelled like bullshit, which it seems increasingly clear that it was.

Update: Still haven’t heard from Greta, whom I trust as a source. But we’re getting other reports and none of these people, who are eager to portray their treatment in the worst possible terms, repeat the claim that I was objecting to here…

FWIW: I have no doubt that Kristin Chenoweth is sincere in her advocacy for LGBTQ+ people and that her response to Kirk’s murder was emotional and well-intentioned, if perhaps under-informed. It was a regrettable response that she likely regrets, but she is not the enemy.
