I just realised that describing something the wrong way can make it even more horrorfying: take scars for example; sure, a "festering scar" sounds bad, but a "bubbling scar" sounds so much more worse

Does anyone think that Scrooge was just running on crow software? I mean... He ate gruel, if he were greedy, he'd be using that money he wrings out of rentors to buy lavish things; however, Dickens describes Scrooge's house as dark and he literally only eats gruel. What do you guys think?
