Have a look at „Ancestral Night“ by Elisabeth Bear. Very cool Sci-Fi, great world building. She wrote two great standalone follow-up novels, set in the same universe, each with lesbian protagonists.

I imagine angelic powers like the electromagnetic effectors in ships from Iain M Banks’ Culture novels: Depending on the mission, they can be used to use a typewriter or to fuck up an entire solar system.

In order to think about how you painted these, to be able to concentrate on brushstrokes, I need to zoom way in on them to stop my brain from assuming they are photographs. Fascinating!
