Thanks!! It’ll be fun to dive into a classic! :)

Oh nah of course! I mean, the Hannah Barbera acquisitions were a great launching point, but CN was definitely dabbling on their own offerings. I only vaguely know of What A Cartoon and Moxy from reruns, and should really sit down to watch a playlist or two.

It would be nice to dive back into Space Ghost, tbh! It makes sense that one of CN’s first original series set the tone for what was to come, given that CN was only two at the time and still very much attempting to figure out its own personality outside of pre-existing animations.

This is the historical archival work I desire to see in this community tbh. 🙏🙏

I actually absorb a lot of bumpers lmao see my last reply to you. 🤣 We’re on the same wavelength lol. Network bumpers are a staple of any syndicated program, and to me it’s hard to view a syndicated tv show without also remembering the program block it aired on.

I’m a sucker for network bumpers as well, so that likely helps fuel my desire for more TOM. CN’s syndicated history is definitely long and intermingled. I miss Space Ghost; I remember watching a lot of reruns of Coast to Coast when Adult Swim would come on.

Oh yeah no, I meant he was the one who began the program lol. I made a reply to you about Moltar five minutes before your reply hit me lol that’s my bad; I ran out of character count to clarify properly lol. But I was 10 when TOM took over, so it makes sense I don’t know Moltar well.
December 8, 2025 at 10:50 PM
I know I know lol 👌 Don’t worry, I haven’t glossed over Moltar lol
December 8, 2025 at 10:15 PM
I suppose I think of it differently; like… growing up in that era, I can’t think of DBZ, Zoids, Gundam, etc. without also thinking about Toonami, the very program that brought these cartoons to public syndication. They’re all holding hands with TOM, so he sticks out in my brain A LOT lol
December 8, 2025 at 10:12 PM
Yeah; the Moltar era. I don’t remember much of it; TOM stands out more to me than Moltar’s run, tho that makes sense, since TOM’s been the host since 1999 and I was 10 in that year. So… I obviously know more of TOM than Moltar.
December 8, 2025 at 10:09 PM
I mean, TOM was more than just apart of a CN bumper; he was the host of the action-packed Toonami lineup for a majority of its run. There was no Toonami without TOM. He started the program, introduced shows, and fed you reassurances about where you were and what was coming up next. He was a staple.
December 8, 2025 at 10:06 PM
I suppose so!! I guess I’m just looking at all my fellow American cosplayers in their mid to late 30’s who likely grew up with Cartoon Network and Toonami and wondering why I don’t see TOM too often. He’s niche, sure, but I feel like he’d be recognizably popular with the older crowd.

But also I hope you sell out!! 🙌🙌
