I think this is good news.

Ymmv, but in my limited dealings with +Sarah I have found her to be thoughtful, faithful and very deeply human. Not perfect, of course. But we could do much worse.

And guess what? Turns out "you can't appoint a woman, it'll be too divisive" is sexist nonsense, as always.

I want to live in a world where leaders can

- change their position following research and reflection

- admit they don't know something but be willing to find out

A world where entrenched positions are expected, and where leaders bluff out of fear of admitting they don't know, is a dangerous one

Here’s my heads up: if you’re intending on submitting a PhD proposal with the hope of funding, in the UK that’s usually due around Christmas….

Now (not a week before the deadline) is when to start having those conversations with potential supervisors! It’s not too soon!

Text: 'I’m delighted to be joining the Westcott community as a research supervisor. I’m looking forward to guiding students on their personal pathway of intellectual discovery in New Testament studies and am passionate about the pursuit of biblical knowledge for the resourcement of the church’s worship and ministry. I enjoy guiding students through the creative intellectual process of conducting historical, literary, and theological research on the scriptures that are foundational for Christianity. My supervision practice is oriented towards attentive and inspirational direction which empowers students to develop their own scholarly voice.'
