On 17/9, a delegation led by FEP President Sonia Draga & Vice-President Phaedon Kidoniatis met with Chairwoman of the #CULT Committee Nela Riehl and Commissioner for Culture Glenn Micallef

Among the subjects discussed, the Culture Compass, transparency for #AI & proper funding for the book sector🙌

With 39 other organisations in the creative sector, FEP rejects the AI Act's implementing measures. They represent a betrayal, not a compromise.

Instead of fostering transparency & legal practices, the European Commission sold out Europe's creators to non-European tech companies.

Live from Prague's Book Fair: Boualem Sansal awarded the Fair’s Freedom of Speech Prize. In his absence, due to his unfair imprisonment in Algeria, his daughters accepted it. European fairs & publishers call for his release. #FreeBoualemSansal @ec.europa.eu @europarl.europa.eu @consilium.europa.eu

Performers and creators have the right to decide whether or not their work is used by AI companies and to be paid fairly when it is. Consultation responses are in. The government must listen to our world leading creative industries and be at the forefront of fair AI regulation. #MakeItFair

Along with a large coalition of rightholders from all sectors, FEP warns against the latest draft of the AI Code of Practices.

It would severely breach the AI Act and EU copyright law, disregarding the intention of the legislator. No Code would be better than this

Hi, Jill! Great starter pack, congratulations! It would be great if we could be in it. FEP represents 31 publishers' associations of books in Europe, and we could be an added value in your list for those interested in hearing an institutional approach to publishing ;)
