Greatest accomplishment on this supposedly monumental milestone today is that I'm still alive. And I just hope it's enough.

"But when the legal order itself is rotten, rights claims are not enough. Instead of the right to have rights, the world’s oppressed must have the ability to make rights—to appropriate the powers of creation and enforcement for themselves."
The Limits of Rights | Jake Romm

I could not stop myself from vocally exclaiming my agreement with the highlighted passage as I read it. Seriously. All this recent talk of expanding Philhealth benefit packages is just the tip of the iceberg in managing OOP healthcare spending.

A new thing that doesn't obviously benefit unconscionably rich people will always require an exhaustive "cost benefit analysis" to absolutely make sure that it's "rational" to implement the new thing. But if you question the mass integration of "AI" into our lives, you are stopping progress. Get it?

lately finding myself struggling to accomplish all the tasks I've planned for each day. definitely not a new experience, but in some sense, I welcome it now. at least the motivation exists. far better than having so much to do but absolutely not caring at all. mental health progress I guess

Every time I go outside to run, I feel like I'm rolling the dice on whether today is the day some random dog roaming the streets is going to bite me or not.

Helps me stay alert and focused though. Also, some barks do startle me & actually trigger mini eps of fight-or-flight response.

Based on GBD 2021 study, in 2021, ~78 deaths/100k person were linked to tobacco. With an estimated burden of 2503 DALYs (premature mortality+disability)/100k, it was the 4th highest risk factor contributing to death and disability in the country.

Legality is and should be the least of your worries

(screenshot bec this isn't a direct reaction to the study but more of a general reflection on AI in med)

If this came out in 2016/17, when I was LU5 in med school, I would have been so excited. Back then, I barely understood what I was doing when it came to clinical dx/reasoning

constantly struggling over the tension between what is and what (I believe) should be, and deciding which of the two I should change
