The Taliban have deepened their repression by intensifying restrictions on the rights of women and girls.
We at @hrw.org are committed to document these violations and push for accountability for the preparators of grave crimes. Afghans deserve justice and a dignified life.

Germany’s interior minister wants to negotiate directly with the Taliban to send Afghan migrants deported from Germany back to Afghanistan.

Deporting anyone to a place where they face risk of abuse shows a blatant disregard for basic human decency.

This is the time for the UN Human Rights Council to move beyond business as usual and establish a comprehensive accountability mechanism to complement the vital work of the UNSR Afghanistan.

We urge the UN Human Rights Council to heed UNSR's recommendation for the establishment of an additional comprehensive independent accountability mechanism demonstrating that the international community will not turn away from human rights violations in Afghanistan.

It was a pleasure to share a panel with award-winning filmmaker Anders Hammer at the screening of "The Takeover" at the Frontline Club in London. The documentary features the resistance of brave female protestors in the early days of the Taliban takeover, and I highly recommend it for watching.

It’s very important to not only see a woman of Afghanistan as a survivor and victim, but to recognise them as leaders. They are leading this resistance. They are the frontline human rights defenders of Afghanistan.
