Its one of the reasons I decided to focus my attention on comics instead of animation after highschool, because I discovered that "2D Animator in a studio" wasn't an attainable job here anymore unless you're maybe a Disney veteran from the older era guest-animating on TV cartoons or something.

I like how all artists are pretty much on the same wavelength about this, lol.

Its also why I'm sorta excited to see what the next game is looking like. They incorporated tons of fan input into Frontiers' DLC but had to stay within Frontier's already completed framework, but with a new game they're free to experiment even further from the ground up.
