Used to! These days it's mostly for people churning out 60 lasercut ornaments an hour or less technically inclined artists who p much just use it as a storefront and do their promotions elsewhere. It's useful but more flea market than high-end gallery now, I wouldn't try selling oil paintings there

going out to cities doing random spree shootings is great PR for the republican base, and who really cares what anyone else thinks they're not gonna do shit

You know what would really effect major social change, ask your local FBI office which agent still needs to make quota that month and volunteer to be peaceably arrested by em

a few centuries ago North America was primarily populated by people who could do all that, it turns out the guns wielded by those the ruling class rule work just fine on them

don't think guys who talk too much about speculative bubbles are welcome on any platform owned by people with money right now, on speak the devil's name and he might appear grounds

Can't comment on vgen, commishes, or skeb because I'm not a vtuber, furry artist, or Japanese, respectively. once Etsy worked pretty well, if you build an online art fair and present it to buyers that way they will come! they're just increasingly dropshipper-oriented and nothing else filled the void

the conversion rate of twitter views to actual sales is orders of magnitude worse than putting your stuff literally anywhere else - not even just for artists, this was pretty well documented common knowledge when I was doing corp marketing. If you're putting your stuff all over anyway it's free, but

they didn't want to open source it (because it'd be v embarrassing if someone took what they funded and used it to make 16chan) but also there was no problem that'd solve that wouldn't be more realistically addressed by, idk, crowdfunding a giant server everyone gets their own Wordpress site on

you can find dummies on this very website saying it and they will explain it means if nobody has health insurance you'd be able to pay for a liver transplant out of pocket for less than the premiums. it's a broadly popular idea.

buddy this is a matter of public record, if you're interested you should read it instead of trying to Debate whatever funny joke your econ 101 prof made on offbrand Twitter

where does this assumption that processing the same data on a hundred smaller servers is more efficient/eco-friendly than a half-dozen large ones come from? it's akin to replacing a power plant with an equivalent wattage of garage generators

that literally isn't how it worked even in this specific instance, at all

their plan was to be socialist Patreon/substack from the outset and they just sorta fell backwards into all the blogging stuff people used along the way. it's not clear that it was ever a GOOD plan, but they'd been working at a solution for filling that niche for years and eventually ran out of time

when there's no actual resistance and they can keep doing it indefinitely without consequence 400 goons raiding a different block of your town every week is not meaningfully different from a full fascist takeover

a place that really aimed at being an art *market* would be excellent, somewhere with services to take the load off promotions or a ticket system for commissions or etc. don't really need any more help uploading a jpg thanks it's 2025

knocking down Manhattan to block a road seems wasteful when they could just stop trash service for a week

you don't need blind faith for this just literally any willingness to engage in good faith with a process where you don't always get instant gratification and defeating everyone around you at some zero-sum conflict

no coalition of more than like four dudes has ever agreed on what objective truth really is, believing that there probably is one and having an agreed-upon basis for figuring out what it looks like is the basis of a society.

how the hell do you do a mailing list without Mailchimp or some other corporate mediator rn though. Tried hosting my own Dadamail newsletter last year and after a couple months of work I got them to not automatically flag as spam in about 3 peoples mailboxes

none of these clowns are acting like they're making a business decision, this place is a special treehouse club for them and their nazi friends and all these weird trans commies aren't invited and also someone gives them a million dollars to build it for no reason that bears thinking about

wow these guys seem kinda upset about being persistently compared to toys, their work to gibberish, their beliefs to wacky mad libs. can't come up with any reasons why that might be, they must be really racist against computers

Strongly feel that even just an instant's curiosity about what the experience of an actually-sapient Claude instance might be like would yield a wildly different far weirder ethical stance. but it's all people who've never thought about that for anyone using social justice language as a bludgeon
