I am learning game development from scratch. To motivate myself and to keep myself accountable I post about what I learn.
I completed the next #GDQuest module and finished a Tower Defense game!

I learned a lot including:
Pathfinding
Placing turrets
mobspawning
Upgrading turrets
Autoloading

and much more!

Check out the video for what I created.

Day 15 of the #GDQuest modules!

Today I added the teleporter to end the game and added an end screen.

I had lots of fun discovering how to do everything on my own without help and it was very rewarding when the end result worked out like it should!

Check it out in the video!

Today I added the chest that spawns the health pickup from yesterday. I also started on the level design!

Check it out!

Definitely feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it :)
See you tomorrow!

Day 13 has arrived!

Today in the #GDQuest module I added a healthpack to heal the player.

I decided to tinker around myself and added some animations and sounds, All by myself!

Very proud of my progress! Check it out :)

(The video has some sound delay unfortunately.. )

Day 12 is here and I am still in module 10 of the #GDQuest course!

Today I managed to add a health bar and the enemies and player can take damage and die.

I'm excited for tomorrow! See you there :)

Over the weekend I started #GDQuest module 10.
It's a lot more difficult without step-by-step help, but it's very rewarding!

This is how I managed so far:
-Player can move & shoot and arms pivot around the body.
-Enemy that follows the player

See you tomorrow!

I didn't have a lot of time today but I managed to finish the 9th #GDQuest module. I learned about raycasts and how to use them on the enemy AI to avoid some obstacles.

I won't have much time until Monday so updates will be sparse. But I hope to see you then!

Day 9 is finished! I learned about AI enemies (and reusing code that is similar) and pausing the game. I also learned a little about game states and we added a finish line.

The #GDQuest module is definitely doing work!

Check out the video to see the result!

Couldn't do much during the weekend unfortunately..
But I'm back for day 7!

Module 8 of the #GDQuest course was a doozy.
I don't necessarily have much to show in game but I learned about classes, resources and how to edit this in the Inspector.

Check it out!

Day 6 is done!

I finished module 7 of the #GDQuest course!

Thanks to the coding challenges I've noticed I can do more on my own without step-by-step help.

Excited for what is to come!

Check out the end result! (code in comments)

See you next time!

I got halfway through the 7th module and created buttons through code and learned about themes, array's and dictionaries!

Today I finished the coding challenges without step-by-step guidance. Module 7 in the #GDQuest course is also a more "Try first" approach which is doing wonders!

Today i got myself through module 6 of #GDQuest !
In the video you can see all the new things I learned!

The final part of the module requires me to do things by myself without step by step help..

Sounds like a good exercise for tomorrow ;)
